So, my daughter's bug is finally ready to go.
Running well, tuned up, and passed smog ('74).

Now comes the registration. I have the signed title from the seller. We bought the bug 4 years ago, but there isn't a date of sale on the title.
Do you think I should put a recent date on it to try to avoid any fees, or should I go honest and back date it for 4 years ago?

Thanks for your experiences and insight,
Eric

Put a recent date on it...no sense in having to pay fees.

why would you have to pay fees anyway? They dont care when you bought it. Its never been on the road. I'd leave the date blank if they ask then just tell them last week. I've never had any problems with that and have had cars sitting unregistered for a couple months. Hope this helps avoid any fees.

I'm not familiar with the fees either, or what would cause them to charge you. When I did my old bus, we had the title but no bill of sale. We drafted one up, but I don't remember what we did as far as the dates go.

The DMV website says you need to register a purchase within 30 days with a title. No bill of sale needed.

Fees usually come from Cali- I know when you buy a car there that is not currently registered the NEW owner is responsible for back fees. What a stupid system. Vegas doesnt care.

Just register it.
Keep the plates if they are not NV.

I still have some OG Cali black plates I said I lost when getting my NV reg.
